Golf Operations – Retail Manager

Golf Operations/Retail Manager is responsible for managing the day to day golf operations; management of the golf shop staff; and the management of the retail shop located inside the golf shop.  He/she oversees these services to assure high standards and total customer satisfaction.  He/she will be responsible for checking in players before play on the course, answering phone calls, dealing with questions concerning tee times and rates, developing tournaments and sign ups, providing golf carts to players, managing use of private carts on the course, managing inventory and retail sales, as well as hiring and training pro shop staff.  He/she is a detailed-oriented team leader with strong guest, business and organizational skills, along with a passion and general understanding for the game of golf.  He/she shall develop all golf operation and retail department budgets and forecasts and ensure that the financial goals of the club are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and works the range
  • Manages all golf shop operations
  • Monitors and manages the retail operations of the golf shop
  • Manages the golf cart usage; both club and private
  • Manages all tournaments from start to finish, including participation in meetings
  • Develop and implement clinics and camps with needed golf professionals
  • Assist customers by providing and interpreting golf policies, rules and regulations
  • Develop a system to maintain handicap records (including adding and removing members from our handicap records), and develop a system to provide interpretation of golf policies, rules and regulations, when needed
  • Manage the daily opening and closing of golf operations
  • Setting up tee times
  • Coordinates pairings for Wednesday Night golf league, and any other leagues requesting pairings
  • Ensure that the course is always properly marked for cart trail usage
  • Develop and monitor cart usage on course to ensure that all customers are following established rules that will preserve the integrity and beauty of the course
  • Oversee Golf Cart rental program, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures set by the Board for use of club carts and private carts
  • Ensure that all private carts follow all rules set by the Board of Directors
  • Handle merchandising for golf shop
  • Monthly inventory of all golf shop items submitted to Member Services Manager timely
  • Manages all areas of operations inside the golf shop, including scheduling all employees, employee training, orientations and disciplining
  • Scheduling of practice range workers, golf shop workers and golf cart workers
  • Oversee and enforce the golf shop operations policies, procedures, controls and fee structures
  • Train and empower employees to provide excellent customer service
  • Coordinate with Clubhouse Manager for all food and beverage needs in golf shop and for golf events, including beverage cart services
  • Maintains a close working relationship with other department managers to ensure an effective operation with cross training of employees
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required

Golf Shop Assistant

GENERAL:

Golf Shop Assistant is responsible for assisting the Golf Operations/Retail Manager in the day to day operations of the golf shop.  The Assistant’s duties will include, but not be limited to, checking in players before play; answering phone calls; dealing with questions concerning tee times, rates, tournaments, golf carts and retail products; assisting with day to day operations; opening and closing procedures; tracking and reporting daily hours of work; rotating merchandise; organizing retail displays; stocking retail merchandise; cleaning work areas; moving and cleaning golf carts; and assisting the Manager with any other needs.    

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working the golf range as assigned
  • Working with the retail areas of the shop as assigned
  • Moving and cleaning golf carts
  • Assisting with golf tournaments from start to finish
  • Working with clinics and camps as needed
  • Assisting customers and answering phone calls
  • Entry of purchases into the club computer system
  • Being available for daily opening and closing of golf operations as assigned by Manager
  • Setting up tee times
  • Assisting with all golf leagues
  • Assist Manager to properly mark for cart trail usage
  • Be aware of all golf cart rules to assist with compliance
  • Have knowledge of member roster to ensure that all golf participants are playing within the guidelines of their membership category
  • Be aware of private cart rules set by the Board of Directors to assist with compliance
  • Enforce golf shop operations policies, procedures, controls and fee structures
  • Provide excellent customer service by being friendly, helpful and respectful
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required
